DOG SHOT MAN DEAD
Swan Hill, Monday
A retriever dog fired a shotgun and wounded a man, who died in Swan Hill hospital yesterday.
The man, Victori Jencke, 58, of Warragul, was one of a party of five on a shooting expedition.
They were travelling in a utility truck when the dog, which was in the back, pawed the trigger of a shot gun.
The shot pierced the back of the utility cabin upholstery and struck Jencke in the back.
The safety catch was not secured when the gun was placed in the rear of the utility, shortly before the accident.
Only 10 minutes before Jencke had changed places in the cabin with Charles Bleckley, of Buln Buln.
